Proud To Be Hawaiian! That's right Rodney Esteban Is Hawaiian at heart even though he is hundreds of mile away from the beautiful Islands of Hawaii, Rodney stills represents his roots. Thanks to the web, eight08customs found his ride over the web and it just caught our attention instantly, even though he's living in Cali and being our website is all about Hawaii Scions, we had to make this exception of featuring his XB here on eight08customs.com. We thank Rodney for sharing his ride with us.

Below is how Hawaiian Built came to life, which Rodney himself wrote.

ABOUT HAWAIIANBUILT

What was initially supposed to be a commuter gas saver for me to and from work averaging 400 miles a week turned into a project box!!  I wanted only to have the rims put on, but after going to several Scinergy Inland Empire meets (www.scinergyie.com),  and seeing such uniqueness and originality in everyone’s rides I added lowering springs, strut bar, and graphics.  I was happy to see such diversity in member’s rides and ethnicities I wanted to represent a different style aside from the company sponsorship logos.  I’ve never seen at the various car club meets including ScinergyIE, Scion Evolution, and Team Scion West clubs anyone representing Kama’aina.

ABOUT RODNEY

Im a graduate of Concordia Lutheran University in Irvine, California.  I’m currently and Athletic Trainer at The Sports Club LA / Orange County.  I’ve been into sports and cars/trucks since real young.  After getting my drivers license, my first project car was a 1993 Honda Civic, then came my 1997 Toyota 4Runner.  I came to realize I couldn’t let this Scion be just another Black Cherry Pearl driving around town.

THE HAWAIIAN CONNECTION

My father is from the Philippines and was stationed in Hawai’i where he had met my mother and where my sister was born.  I was born in Illinois and raised in Virginia and grew up here in Southern California.  Growing up with both cultural influences in our family was an awesome experience.  I get out to Hawai’i every now and then to visit family and friends.  Next time out there I hope to go for my doctorate at The University of Hawai’i and of course cruise around town in my Hawaiianbuilt Scion.

PLANS FOR THE FUTURE

I plan to continue representing Hawai’i and our people here on the mainland along great new additions to the box keeping it clean, simple, and real.  Hopefully next time out to the islands we can start a Scinergy Hawai’an Islands Chapter.  Mahalo Nui.  Rodney
